 Nurse Licensure Compact Moves Forward

House Bill 1611 was introduced on June 5, 2009: AN ACT Authorizing the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to join the Nurse Licensure Compact.  The next step - it is now referred to the Professional Licensure Committee.

Pennsylvania Association of Occupational Health Nurses (PAAOHN) has formed a coalition with Case Management Society of America (CMSA).  Representatives from both organizations are readily available to provide testimony to the professional licensure committee in favor of this House Bill. Carol Smith, a national advocate for multistate licensure, recently published an article on the topic, she is very supportive to our efforts here in the Commonwealth.

Also there is an advisory from AAOHN, PAAOHN's national organization and CMSA's position Statement.   Both provide an overview of why this is such an important issue to nurses licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Are you practicing across state lines? Join us to find out if you are in compliance or risking your license.

This webinar highlights the efforts of CMSA, the Public Policy Committee (PPC), and the Multi-State Licensure (MSL) Task Force to increase awareness for supporting the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). At each state level, MSL would enhance the public’s protection by simplifying governmental processes and removing regulatory barriers to increase the mobility of the nurse case managers’ workforce across state lines. This didactic session will provide you with tools essential for ensuring political involvement within your state.

Objectives:
1) Define MSL and how it affects CM practice
2) Identify 3 strategies CMSA has developed to promote enactment of the NLC for all states
3) Develop 3 ways to effectively communicate with legislators and employers reasons of importance of MSL for case management practice
